White Chocolate Matcha Truffles

Today, the MATCHAZUKI page, featuring premium Japanese matcha powder, is delighted to present a decadent treat – White Chocolate Matcha Truffles. These truffles are the ideal snack for an afternoon tea, combining the smooth sweetness of white chocolate with the aromatic, earthy flavor of matcha green tea. With minimal ingredients and a straightforward method, this recipe is simple to make and delivers a sophisticated flavor profile perfect for pairing with hot tea. Let’s explore the ingredients and the method to create these delicious truffles.

Ingredients
– 240 grams white chocolate
– 2 tablespoons MATCHAZUKI medium-grade matcha powder (for mixing)
– 100 ml whipping cream
– Additional MATCHAZUKI matcha powder (for dusting)

Instructions
1. Heat the Whipping Cream:
Pour the whipping cream into a heatproof bowl. Microwave it on high for about 30 seconds, or until it just begins to boil. Remove the bowl from the microwave.
2. Add White Chocolate and Matcha:
Immediately add the white chocolate and 2 tablespoons of matcha powder to the hot cream. Stir the mixture until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth. If the chocolate does not melt fully, microwave the mixture in 15-second intervals, stirring between each, until smooth and well combined.
3. Cool and Refrigerate:
Allow the mixture to cool to room temperature, then cover and refrigerate for at least 3 hours, or until the mixture has firmed up enough to mold.
4. Shape the Truffles:
Once the mixture is set, scoop out small portions and roll them into balls. Note that the truffles may not form perfectly round shapes, which is perfectly fine. Once shaped, roll the truffles in additional matcha powder to coat them evenly.
5. Serve:
Arrange the truffles on a serving plate and enjoy with a hot cup of tea. The rich sweetness of the white chocolate combined with the earthy, aromatic matcha creates a perfect balance.

Pro Tip:
Truffles are best served cold. If you’re not planning to serve them immediately, it’s best to wait to coat them in matcha powder until just before serving. This ensures that the matcha powder retains its vibrant color and doesn’t become damp from the moisture in the truffles.
