– Vegetable oil (for frying)
For the Green Tea Sauce:
– 20 ml fresh milk
– 20 ml hot water
– 1 tsp MATCHAZUKI medium-grade matcha powder
– 1 tbsp sugar
– 2 tsp cornstarch
Instructions
1. Prepare the Churros Dough:
– In a small bowl, dissolve the matcha powder in the hot water, then place it in a pot with fresh milk and salted butter. Heat over low heat until the butter melts and the mixture becomes hot.
– Remove the pot from the heat, then add the all-purpose flour, stirring well to incorporate. Return the pot to low heat and stir continuously until the dough forms a single, smooth ball. – Turn off the heat and allow the dough to cool slightly.
2. Make the Green Tea Sauce:
– In a separate bowl, combine the ingredients for the green tea sauce: fresh milk, hot water, matcha powder, sugar, and cornstarch. Stir until fully dissolved.
– Microwave the mixture for 30 seconds, then remove and stir until smooth and well combined. Set aside.
3. Assemble and Fry the Churros:
– Add the egg to the cooled churros dough and mix well until the dough becomes smooth and fully combined.
– Transfer the dough into a piping bag fitted with a star tip. Heat vegetable oil in a pot over medium heat.
– Once the oil is hot, pipe the churros dough into the oil, frying in small batches until golden and crispy. Remove the churros from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
– Allow the churros to cool slightly, then sprinkle with icing sugar for an extra touch of sweetness.
4. Serve:
– Serve the Matcha Churros with the prepared green tea sauce for dipping. The sauce will enhance the flavor of the churros with its fragrant matcha aroma.
