How to brew green tea
Note: This method is not a Japanese tea ceremony method.
Required equipment (as shown in the picture below)
1. Matcha-chawan (抹茶碗) a cup for brewing tea
2. Chasen (茶筅) is a bamboo stick used to grind green tea powder to prevent it from clumping.
3. Chashaku (茶杓) is a bamboo spoon used to scoop green tea powder.
raw material
1. Excellent grade MATCHAZUKI matcha powder, scoop with 1 and a half spoons (about 1 teaspoon) of Chashaku.
2. Hot water approximately 80C, volume 60 ml.
Brewing process
1. Scoop matcha powder into a cup.
2. Gradually pour hot water over the matcha powder.
3. Use Chasen to “brush” the matcha powder into the water, alternating the brushing direction from front to back until no matcha powder clumps (you will see fine green bubbles floating on top).
4. Serve in teacups.
How to boil water to approximately 80C
1. Boil water to 100C.
2. Pour into a prepared container (such as a tea cup). The water temperature will drop to about 10C.
3. Then pour it over the matcha powder as in step 2. You will get hot water with a temperature of approximately 80C.
Tip: Matcha powder is not actually dissolved in water, but rather suspended in hot water, so it should be drunk immediately while the matcha powder is still suspended before it settles to the bottom.
